You can eliminate the need for Adaware and Spybot altogether by using Firefox for everything but Windows Update and clearing/blocking your cookies. Spybot hasnt found anything but DSO Exploits for months.

Of course there's always the moron relative/friend that comes along and needs their purple monkey...

Oh my god, I hate that monkey. That was the first spyware/adware I ever had to remove off of a system. I think I'm starting to cry right now just thinking about what I went through that day. Curse your black heart, purple monkey!

Also microsoft came out with a anti-spyware beta. I got it and it runs fine.

I was about to point this out also. I (like many other people, I'm sure) have become very jaded as far as most of Microsoft's products and "upgrades", but the functionality, access, and control that their beta Anti-spyware software gives you is, dare I say, impressive! Some of the things can be done by doing, for example, run-> msconfig and checking off items in the startup list. But the MS Anti-spyware access gives you more information on the item(s) and was able to get rid of one persistant one that kept restoring itself even after I would un-check it.

I highly reccommend checking it out and using it along Ad-Aware and Spybot S&D. I hope MS doesn't start charging for it after the beta period. To me, spyware exists because of shortcomings in their OSs. But check it out!
