Right now, I live in an area where broadband and dsl are unavailable! Verizon and Comcast keep saying "It's coming soon," but that was over a year ago. Instead, I have MSN Dial-up. Laugh now, then continue reading.

...

...

Are there any alternative dial up accelerators that actually work for this ISP? Or am I just shit out of luck until one of the companies actually brings the services out here?

Dunno about Download Accelerators.

Any chance of WiMax coming into the area anytime soon? or maybe Satelite? or how about a neighbor with an open access point?

Netzero and others do give a slight performance increase. They use a cache server/router from cisco. It stores almost all of the popular pages or any pages designated by said ISP which of course, when you ask for instance yahoo, it is already cached and thereby delivered to you faster.

Be very wary of such "accelerators" as marketscore, download shop, etc.

IT's spyware.....

Hey Hexed.. If Verizon says it's coming, then you might get FIOS!!!

Then you'll be laughing at all the DSL/Cable users when you have a 10 mbit connection!

well, until you get a higher connection method, i recommend trying this program...

http://www.propel.com/

i have successfully used this accelerator and had no problems with it...

btw, it comes free with an "bellsouth" dial-up account.

MSN 9 dial-up has its own accelerator. my mom uses MSN, but i use firefox for actually browsing sites so im not sure how effective it is. frankly i think products like propel are mostly hype, and the money used to pay for the products is better used to pay for broadband. i do understand that hexed doesnt have the choice to get broadband but i thought id just post my 2 cents. good luck w/ the broadband
