 Post subject: Hosts file vs directories

Can you use a hosts file to stop files within a directory from loading? Something like:

127.0.0.1 www.webpage.com/ads/

Seems a lot of news sites I go to are moving over to this format.

I dont think so, I think it only handles domains. you could givei t a try but i think it will just end up killing the site.

Not true at all!

Not only can you block anything (not just images), you can do a wildcard.

I.e.
http://www.adserver.com/*
