I'm not really sure if this goes in here, but this is the closest category match I can think of.

Anyway, here goes:

Recently, someone has been downloading porn on my PC. It's a shared machine between me, my younger sister and my roommate (okay, it's my PC but I let them use it too) and I need to find out who's doing it.

If it's my roommate, I have to tell him to stop, or at least download the porn into a removable storage device or something. If it's my sister, I think that would warrant a good talking-to and I might have to tell my parents (she's too young to be looking at that stuff!) Is there some way to trace this?

I run a win 98SE and each of us have our own profiles. I have 3 browsers installed: Firefox (which only I use), Avant (which my sister likes) and IE (which my roommate uses). IE has been set as default because it loads faster.

I only 'caught' this when the download manager (DAP) accidentally saved the files into MY desktop. Obviously, directly asking is only going to lead to a round of denials, but I have to find out.

Does anyone have ideas? *or if it can't be traced, maybe there's a way further incidents can be stopped?* Thanks.

Time stamp on the files compared against who was logged in at the given time?

look in the browser history(for IE it's c:\windows\history)..in the properties of the offending link(rightclick) you can see the last time/date it was visited

if you know who was on the computer around that time they're busted!

another option is to install some kind of parental monitoring software..I've never used any so I don't know which one to suggest.
