i am looking for a site/info for an application.

i would like to via usb camera =>/laptop/netbook ==> connect to a remote via radio? aprox 1/2 mile/km distance then broadcast direct to internet

the application is to record live events, in sometimes hostile political environments, so actual news can be viewed without modification.

i would like to build this myself with off the shelf items for a reasonable budget.

i would prefer to avoid using the phone networks as they may be jamed, preferring to upload at more remote wired locations and in real time.

thanks in advance

The camera to laptop isn't a problem. The problem is laptop to radio transmission. And if you're worried about jamming and you use COTS products, then your radio would be really easy to jam (I would think).

And building a custom one that will provide you with enough bandwidth needs a small team of engineers.

Ideally though, for hard to take-down networks, one of the better solutions is to create a Darknet, which is basically a peer-2-peer networking schema where data can transfer across any number of paths to the destination. This would make it really hard for someone to take it down, but it puts a lot of networking burden on the client. Should look into it as an option.
