Is there a device that I can put on my network that can re-broadcast a wifi hotspot signal from my cellphone? My cellphone can handle multiple devices, but I have found it works better if I plug it into something via the USB cable and then run it that way (that and it can run for longer periods of time since it charges as it's plugged in anyway). I already have a DLink router (DIR-655) so was wondering if there is a USB to RJ45 adapater device I can plug the phone into, and then into the WAN port on the router... I'm trying to give up on Comcast for a while.

Speed doesn't bother me too much since I can only get 4G/LTE speeds anyway, so as long as it can do 10 Mb that's fine. Or if there is a way that I can set my router so that it can tap into the phone and provide access to all of the wired LAN computers. I don't do much downloading at home (maybe 25GB per month at most between all my devices).

  • Plug it into your computer as a modem
  • Share the internet via Wi-Fi or hard line to somewhere
  • ???
  • Enjoy!

Otherwise not to my knowledge.

I have it that way now (plugged into my notebook), but I have a file server (home server) and another desktop (the server doesn't have a wifi card and I'd prefer to not do that because I want the server behind a hardware firewall) I guess if I got a router that can rebroadcast the signal that would be fine (although I'd be taking a performance hit on the wifi download/upload speeds I think).
