Maximum PC

I tried to find the best sub-forum to place this in, so if it's in the wrong place please move it. I have no issue downloading with bittorrent, then problems arise when I try to seed my own material. I'm able to "make a .torrent file" and place it into the program. I can even get as far as loading the trackers and have them "find me". The issue I can't seem to resolve is that me (the seed) cannot connect. Meaning it says 0 of 0 connected (1 in swarm). I've tried everything I can think of, including using proper trackers and inputting my external ip (i'm behind a router) and the port that bittorrent is using. In the Peers sections it states that 0 of 1 connected (0 in swarm). So I guess my million dollar question is how exactly do I get my own seeding to work. I've tried countless guides and still haven't had success.
