Using Cox.

Some of you have some awesome speeds. With Cox it has been interesting to see how moving to a different neighborhood affected out network speeds. Years ago we lived in a neighborhood with mostly "settled" folks, and it was like we had the whole node to ourselves!

Gotta love it when you pretty much max out your Internet connection speeds over your wireless router. Through two walls and 45 feet.

Over four years ago is what my top one was in Enterprise, AL.

This one is today near Panama City Beach, FL. Funny how in Enterprise, the lowest ping was in Tallahassee, but now it's in Atlanta.

My setup now is even further away from the router and through 4 walls.

I wouldn't mind seeing someone from one of the Google Fiber cities showing what they're getting. When I'm on during peak times watching shows on Netflix, I will typically see my picture quality degraded from 6pm til 10pm. I'll check my speed tonight and to show how jacked up it gets. It's really bad on Fridays.

Vs...

My Laptop Via Wireless AC @ 20ft through 1 wall.

Service is supposed to be 10Mbps down 1Mbps up, so looks like I'm doing well!

How the hell does my laptop have a better ping time  :?:

Well, here's my test just one hour after the peak of 10pm.

Image

As you can see, I'm on a DSL connection, the saturation of users really does effect my speed results.

I'll do this once more on Friday night to further define my woes. Right now, we can't get better service than what we have without incurring much greater monthly costs.

At 10:30amCST, my speed is back up to right under my 30mbps DL rating. Will be interesting....more like sad....to see what it is during peak hours over the weekend. I'm keeping these tests as a log for the next couple of weeks to show my ISP. Thing is, I'm only 150 meters away from the DSLAM.

So i decided to check my phone from the guest bedroom. 35ft from router through 3 walls.

Funny thing is... my router, according to Newegg reviews, should suck ass....
