Fuck source safe, especially version 6.0d.

That is all.

(restoring bindings and forcing it to use MY copy after it goes out to lunch is a pita...)

Visual SourceSafe 2005 is way better. If you want pain, use Rational ClearCase. That will make you want to love and hug SourceSafe 6.0d.

Well I think the biggest problem is the database on the server is wonky.

They changed something so instead of going \\server\folder\srcsafe.ini I had to use the FQDN: server.com\folder\srcsafe.ini

and that fux0red my bindings for some reason....

upgraded to 2k5, copied my projects to another folder, pulled from VSS again, checked it out, copied my project files back in, and then checked it back in.

Waste of part of an afternoon, imo. :)

Can't wait for TFS to get here...

TFS is god's blessing to VSS admins (like me). Yeah, I know what you mean. Change an UNC, you're screwed. I've that happen to me at so many orgs it pissed me off. I love TFS, easy to use, integrates well with VS.

Seriously though, use ClearCase and you'll love VSS.
