I learned BASIC and Logo way, way, way back in the 6th grade nearly 400 years ago (approximately).

I really wish that they would have taught us Lisp instead. =)

GUAH! My AI class made me hate LISP... never again will I touch it (if I have ANYTHING to say about it).

Seems most of us started with some form of BASIC, back in the day...

Yup. My form of basic == TI-BASIC (It's like BASIC for graphing calculators). Then I taught myself C++ and Java. Everything else came pretty easy after that.

Everybody starts with BASIC :) I did basic, basic for calculators, then moved on:

html, javascript, css
php with mysql
c++
C# with XNA
Java

you will get to a point, like I have, where you think is pseudo code, and learning a language is simply learning syntax!
