You might want to look into a different programme, my friend .. 'cause that sounds pretty awful to me.

I think this is one reason i went the CIS branch rather than CS branch for my Bachelor.

lol. My bad. I am not too crazy about java. I think C++ is a better language to start out with... although Java is better than VB... correct me if I am wrong, but I read something a few months ago about VB possibly going down the tubes in the real world industry? It just doesn't cut the mustard? I don't know.

Wouldn't be surprised. I heard rumors sometime ago that C# is supposed to replace VB, but I'm still waiting on that one. VB, as a language, sucks I used to tell people that VB programmers are not programmers at all. ;)

Java, for all intents and purposes, has its reasons. I recently wrote a simplified RSA implementation using Java, and not only did the libraries I need existed the code was short and simple. I didn't write a C++ implementation because I had no idea on how to implement the dang thing, nor did I have the time nor the patience to do so. In all, I've been very impressed with Java so it's getting harder for me to say that C++ is better than Java. Java has its place and so does C++, but VB...well, is there one?

Hrm ... well, I went CS with a strong concentration in maths because I wanted all of these subjects, and wanted to have a solid grounding in them.

At the moment, I'm working my way through graph theory with the help of a friend doing her PhD in a related area ... for fun.

Weird, I know. ;)
