I spent the whole of last year learning or should I say trying to learn C++. I hated it with a passion, though that might have had something to do with my tutor. He was never that keen to pass on information or explain things. He taught by the 'go out and find it yourself and I'll tell you if you are wrong but not why' method.
In the end I bought a teach yourself book only to find the code in the book wasn't compatible with the shit Borland compiler we were forced to use at the college.
This resulted in me having to do my homework twice, once to fit in with the compiler I got with the book and then alter the code so that Borland would recognise it.
I've since moved on to VB6 and despite a few teething troubles am really getting into it. I'm starting Java after Christmas and cannot wait.
