I got Visual Basic C++ off of ebay.
When I tried to install it, it said that I had to update my copy of Microsoft Frontpage. It could not install it because it said it was incompatible with any O/S over windows 2000. When I tried to find a version compatible with XP on Microsoft, it said I could get a trial for Frontpage 2003. All I want to do is get my copy of visual basic running.
Does anyone know where I can get a win XP compatible version or am I out of luck?
Thanks

Why are you paying money for M$ VB when GNAVI and DevCPP are free?

No, I personally don't because I only program in open source developing programs. And evidentally, neither does anyone else because noone else has replied to your thread :(

Your post is confusing (and in the wrong folder). I'll make some assumptions and you let me know what is right/wrong.

Your OS is XP
You bought VB and tried to install it
It would not install because your using a Office 2000 package?

If I were you, I'd delete Front Page completely off your machine and then install your VB package. You have Notepad. You don't need Front Page.

Honestly, I don't think you should have bought that. Instead you could have got the express edition of what you needed from Here. Oh and best of all, it's free.

This is in part what is confusing:

The current versions are Visual Basic.NET and Visual C++.NET and they are two seperate packages.

Hackman makes a good point. If you are going to go that route, the visual studio express edition should fit the ticket. I would give that a look.

I don't quite understand the Front Page issue either. I know FP 2000 and up will run on XP. Currently in addition to Visual Studio.NET (2003 Version) I have Visual Basic 6.0 running on this machine with FP 2002 but they all ran with FP 2000.

What version of Visual Basic or Visual C++ did you buy?

Ron
