ASP.NET 2.0 supports them, but 1.1 doesn't...and I'm pissed. How can I create message pop-up boxes for ASP.NET 1.1 pages?

Give it to me cheap and dirty...I'm in no position to be anything but a code slut.

Maybe try Javascript? Not sure if this is any help, but hey a try is better than nothing.

Is a message box the same thing as a dialog box in Java (ie. JOptionPane.showMessageDialog(null, string) )?

You might want to do a search for MessageDialog and see if anything pops up, consult one of the Java 2 .NET cross-references, or use J#. :)

Javascript will do it, just don't know how. A couple sites I checked out just make it more confusing.

Which is why I hate JavaScript!

Basically it resolves around creatring in-page VBscript variables that carry the javascript and html code, then "trick" it into inserting them and the values as substitutes. I'm confused even explaining it. lol.

It is the fallout from the .com boom when being able to operate a microwave meant you could find work as an embedded device engineer. :)

You could use a call to JavaScript's alert() method. Here's a link:

http://www.webdevelopersnotes.com/tutorials/javascript/online_javascript_reference_alert_method.php3

It's not clear when you want this message to appear. If you want it to display as a result of a button click, just add the JavaScript to the button's attribute collection.

You have to jump through hoops to convert it. Even though ASP.NET generate's javascript on the client, the HTML native scripting language still is in VBscript and the logic is done in any of the .NET programming languages.

ASP.NET 2.0 has the messagebox collection, but that doesn't help me.
