A common task for the office staff at my friends job is (as he describes it to me):

They open two seperate pages in two seperate web browser windows (the pages are on their local network). They then cut and paste text from the textfields in one page into the textfields in the other page. The process is ALWAYS the same. During the process, they must advance each page to the next page, BUT these page switches do not coincide (IE the format of the pages is not identical but the same textfield from page A is ALWAYS copied into the same textfield on page B). They want some sort of program or script to automate this process since it is tedious and repetitive. Is there any peice of scripting software that could do this or does anyone have any other suggestions...even if it's just pointing me in the right direction cause I can learn pretty well on my own...Thanks!

If the files are always the same, you could use Python or Java to write a simple script.

It might be simplest actually to strip File A of text and instead of pasting into file B, just creating File B en toto.

It really depends on what exactly is being done.

It isn't totally clear what you're doing with the web pages(?). Give an example w/ some html or a drawing or something.

I think that Manta is right though and it will probably just be a simple script that reads in file A and produces a slightly different File B.
