for those of you who do not know, the google deskbar is a small program which allows one to search google without opening the browser.

http://toolbar.google.com/deskbar/index.html

it so happens that google is distributing the api for this program so that .NET developers can make plugins. I found this interesting, and since i also have the google desktop search (http://desktop.google.com/) i wanted to add it as a plugin to the deskbar. there is only on problem. how do i load a different api into visual studio? when i click "New Project" my gut instinct is to click on "Blank Solution" but i am not sure what to do. All you get when you download the api is a dll which is used to make the plugin. i have never dealt with something like this before.

Do you get a .def file with it?

If not, then I'd go with the tried-and-true LoadModule(), GetProcAddress() solution.

Well, choose the project that suits your application. If you want to make a Windows app, choose the Windows application option, for a DLL choose the DLL option, etc.
