I registered for an IS315 class this semester, the description was Object-Oriented Programming. I was a little nervous because my only experience is with C++ and that has been a year since I did anything at all with it. My apprehension was mostly due to not knowing what language was to be used in the class; I have never taken a java class or anything else. Concepts I get, syntax would take some time to read up on.

So the first day he starts showing us around in VS2008 (turns out it's c# using .NET3.5) so I feel better. C# is close enough to Powershell and C++ that I can get up to date pretty quick. What is making me scratch my head is that here we are in session 3 and we are walking through temperature conversion programs and people are asking entry level questions. WTF?

Is it unreasonable to expect that a 300 level class should not be an in "Intro" course? I would expect a pretty good level of understanding by that point. Am I wrong? Unbelievable....

I feel ripped off...

The question is, why are people in a 300 level class, asking entry level questions.

Consider the audience. This is an IS class, not a COSC class.

I bet I know what school you're going to.

I asked the prof last night if the class is intended to be an intro... Yes, yes it is. WTF? That should be IS 115 not IS 315! Fuckers!

My biggest complaint is that I transferred here using their articulation agreement so at the other place I had to take a few classes in C++ (read: required for the program) and now because this one is considered "higher learning" I have to go back to the beginning. Oh well, I have to get 42 credits here regardless, I just wish I didn't have to take some jerk-off class to get there.

@alan2305: You probably do; if I recall you are from around here.
