I need to get a new CRT monitor, but I only want to spend around $200 for it. I'm thinking of getting Sony CPD-G400 19 CRT which would run me about $250. What do you guys suggest for my price range?

I'm now debating between these two monitors. Any input would be helpful.

Samsung 955DF 19" CRT only $165
Sony CPD-G400 19" CRT only $115

The Samsung looks like a good buy. I am dubious of Sony's cheap line of CRTs.

Sticking in that price range, and aiming for 19" CRT's:
  • Samsung's 955DF-T/T = $215, Nice looking cabinet, Low refreshrates, and are only advertising Horizontal dotpitch which is suspect.
  • NEC/Mitsubishi FE991SB-BK = $245, not too pretty cabinet, the rest of the NEC's in this size are shadow mask, this one looks juuuust good enough to run at a decent resolution/refresh rate (the max is a tad low. Looks like the way to run this one would be at 1024x768@100Hz), .25mm is average...that's good. However...
  • NEC DP930SB-BK = $289. Looks like a better monitor than the other NEC. Worth the extra $44 if NEC is your choice.
  • HP P930 = $239, 24mm dotpitch, fair looking cabinet, specs look really good for the old timer.
  • KDS = POS. Don't buy. I'm biased. Mine blew up.
  • Viewsonic P95F+B = $239, good looking cabinet, great specs, picture looks great...I'm in love with the "P" model Viewsonics lately. I'd choose this one over all the rest!
HOLY IRONY BATMAN! I've been on autonotify for the Viewsonic P225FB for a while now over at newegg. I just got an email as I was writting my opinions here that's it's now available. Is it a sign? This thing should rock! I just ordered it...

Interesting. I've had my NEC FE950+BK going on 3 years...works as good as the day I bought it and has had probably as much use as an average PC user in a 6yr period.
