Okay, I just got November issue of Maximum PC and I was happy to see a review on new Logitech Z-5500 digital speakers. Unsurprisingly, it received perfect 10 like its previous model Z-680.

However, I was very disturbed for the fact that speaker wire is attached to the speakers. I want to use this speaker on my living room as part of home theater system (since it has dolby decoder and I can connect my DVD player) as well as speaker for my dedicated mp3 computer. But I don't think the 25 foot attached speakers will allow me to put the speakers around my living room. Why did they change the wires from Z-680????

Question to MaximumPC staff,

Is there any way to "extend" the speaker wires? TIA

Well you can extent them, by cutting off the ends, tying on more wire, and adding some heatshrink tubing.

Of course you could also probably buy extensions from your local bestbuy or radioshack as they are probably just RCA wires.

I'm very sure they use a RCA jack to plug into the the back of the sub, so just buy some extensions for a couple bucks.
