Maximum PC

I upgraded my sound card to the HT Omega Claro Halo sound card, currently using with the Logitech Z-5500 5.1 surround system. The sound card is awesome with headphones, but I'm not as happy with the speaker sound.

I do some gaming, but mostly I use the speakers for listening to music. I'm interested in getting some good speakers (probably 2 or 2.1) that will work with my sound card and provide excellent sound. Suggestions?

Here's a thought: why not use an amp that has a digital audio input? This eliminates any concerns about noise generated from the computer affecting the analog output of the sound card. All audio is processed as digital anyway.

I've heard from some folks on a certain image board that the best setup is an amp with passive bookcase speakers. Computer speakers try to do everything and as a result they usually lose the mids.
