Maximum PC

I have a N-protocol, dual band, gigabyte router - Netgear N-900 - which I use in my study to connect a laptop as well as my printer to my WLAN.

Given that my TV in the family room is on it's last legs, I am in the market for a SMART LED LCD TV.

Previously, I was able to rent movies from BlockBuster & that was convenient. However, they are NO longer available. Hence, I have decided to stream movies from NetFlix via my DSL/WiFi to a smart TV. From my readings, there are apparently multiple ways which this can be accomplished. I would like suggestions as to the most appropriate way of accomplishing my goal.

If you have an Xbox 360 (or other supported game console) you could hook that up to the TV and stream it with that. A Xbox Live account might be required though.

There are TVs coming out that can stream Netflix directly once connected to your network too. So keep an eye out for that when shopping for that TV.

Another option is to build a modest Home Theater PC and stream with that. A bonus is you get to use Media Center on that TV too.

Wouldn't it be cheaper & as effective to add a Bluray DVD player with a built in WiFi and connect same to my old TV?

I could then take my time selecting a SMART LED LCD TV.

Sure. There are blu-ray players that allow Netflix streaming.

I was just listing various options so you could make a more informed choice.

Even though it's more money I personally would go with a Home Theater PC.
