Maximum PC

Hiya, folks! I have just consigned Nero SmartSuite to oblivion (as far as MY PC is concerned!) after it ruined not one, not two, BUT SIX BRAND NEW, BLANK CD-R'S!! (The software utterly failed to copy a number of mp3 files to the disks as I had wanted. Instead, it attempted to convert them to cda files and copied those files on to the CD-R's, each one being only 1K in size! Needless to say, the CD-R's were thereby rendered unusable!)

Can anyone recommend an alternative (preferably FREE!) to Nero's worthless, bloated products? I already have RealPlayer, Windows Media Player, VLC, and QuickTime. Also, since my DVD drive supports LightScribe, I have just downloaded appropriate software from www.lightscribe.com. Nevertheless, if anyone can recommend a replacement for the Nero SmartSuite, I'd appreciate it!

Since I switched from XP to Win 7, I had to give up using Nero Suite 6, so I feel your pain. (actually it's still on the dual boot XP partition, but it's a pain)

Nevertheless, I find Burnaware Free to do an excellent job of burning anything and everything.

BUT... before you give up totally on Nero, try to make sure that when you're burning mp3 files to CD, that you specifically choose to burn data discs (assuming you haven't done this already).

No problem... you're very welcome. Did you have any luck with specifying data discs to be burnt?

CDBurnerXP gets a second vote for me, for the reasons stated by kleinkenstein, and that's just downright east to use.
