I'm wondering if there is other media that is just as good (in your opinion) but not as expensive. memorex seems to be about $1 per disc. anyone have experience with other manufacturers (Ritek, SuperMedia, etc.)? Should I just dish out the mulah? o ya, i'm looking to get dvd-r and will be purchasing maximum pc's recommendation on the px 712a burner. thanks.

Sandisk flash drives are good media, as are the Kingsgate and Corsair ones.
IBM made good Floppy media, as did Sony. A few of those are even still in use in my house.
Any of the big names are good for hard-disk media.

That's all the media I can give a good recommendation on.

I think he wants to know about dvd media, considering he mentioned a plextor drive.

we have had good luck with tdk, and memorex, have had no luck with any -r disks, we only use +r disks which seem to work much better. I have an older plextor, a samsung, and a memorex burner, my son has a couple of different burners, but the tdk disks work well in all of them.

It could make a difference depending on what you are going to use them for. data, music, movies.

we buy in bulk 50 or 100 packs to keep the cost down.

For what it's worth, I haven't seen any difference between -r & +r media from any of the top 5 in my list.
