 Post subject: Help with Ripping DVD's

I'm going through and ripping all of my kid's movies onto an external HDD. I've been using DVD Fab, but it's not very reliable. About 1 out of 3 DVD's will just "stall" and DVD Fab sits there trying to read it.

What other programs can I use instead DVD FAB that would be more reliable? I have Win7 running on a i7 860 with a ATI 5870.

I'm getting some weird read errors with DVD Decrypt. Any other programs I can try?

I think the DVD's that are giving DVD Fab trouble is also the ones giving DVD Decrypt trouble. I'm wondering if small scratches of other blemishes is causing copy problems. (These are my kids movies after all.)

Check the discs closely for scratches. Whenever I use DVDFab and a disc can't be read, it's usually because it's too damaged ... and that takes some doing.

I used DVDShrink to rip DVDs. You can strip out anything you don't need making images smaller.

I have used Clone DVD and Any DVD and when I had a problem ripping a DVD they got the info for the DVD and the error file and fixed the problem then sent out a update to everyone. I know its not freeware but it is very worth it to me.

With an uberlight app of only 198KB, you can tie the two best free DVD apps together (Decrypter and Shrink) for a flawless rip each and every time with RipIt4Me.
