Hello,
I have a video I took and had the backlight setting on causing the video to be pretty white near the brighter areas, windows, doors etc... How can I clean it up and make it so maybe it's worth watching?

If I’m reading your post correctly, you’ve accomplished what videographers have been doing for years… backlighting their subjects for the witness protection program.

How do you clean it up? I have no idea.

For future reference, always have your lighting behind the camera.

The only time you allow light in front of the camera is for video effect, similar to what you describe.

I know this isn’t helpful but if you can re-capture the video in proper lighting, it will ‘look’ much better than an analog fix of a digital image!

You'd need a semi-pro level video editor that has contrast/saturation/brightness controls.

In addition to those features being able to apply those to specific areas using masking would get even better results.

Even if you have all the above it takes a bit of artistry to get the balance of all those controls to make it look natural and not overly processed.

It doesn't need to look professional, just being able to recognize people will be good!
