A bone to pick huh?!?! Netflix, great company right? Movies are fast, free shipping, cheap prices..... Yeah all this sounds good and great and maybe it used to be. Dog, the problem I have with Netflix is as follows. I have the plan 3 out at a time, great deal. When I started with them I was getting them so fast it wasnt even funny, but now, not so fast...... I have about 70 films in my queue on Netflix and guess what??? Not one is available to send to me. I have called so many times asking why and the answer I get. Well turns out just because I live in Anchorage AK the movies I chose are not in HIGH DEMAND so since the demand is greater on either the East Coast or West Coast I will probably never see the movies in my queue. I dont get it really I mean I have barney for my daughter and some other kiddie shows for her, but still they are not in HIGH DEMAND. This makes no sense at all. I pay the same price as everybody else that belongs to netflix but just because I live in Alaska I am discriminated by geographical location. This is not right nor is it fair to treat customers that way. They said it was due to a new upgraded software that causes this problem. Movies are shifted around to where the demand is greater. It's just not that either, I mean I sit there and see movies that say are available and nothing is sent, then I come back later in the day and its a LONG WAIT. I wonder if Netflix makes it a practice to screw people over like that?

That doesn't sound right at all. If you had the movie in your queue first, you should get it first.

No, that's not how it works, Queenof1. It only works that way, if it's been sent to your area, you were ahead of someone else, and you also had an opening for them to send you the disc. It's a pain sometimes, I know that, even just living in IN, but I myself also started mostly watching movies via my X360, using my netflix account. I tend to be able to take better advantage of it that way, and some movies are ONLY available via instant play. You can miss some really good ones if you don't use that. In fact, I get to catch up on missed episodes of Heroes and CSI: Miami through that option. I will agree, however, that their regional practices are ridiculous. The other consideration you have to give, is that there are a lot of morons that screw the discs up, and we responsible people have to wait for netflix to get replacements, if they ever can. Some discs can't be replaced after a while. It's just a ginormous Box Office Video / Blockbuster chain, albeit with way better pricing.

That's pretty messed up. Akwingnut (love the name!) is up in AK and can't get a movie.

On the flip side, I'm in San Diego, have 247 movies in queue, and only two have some waiting. The rest are available "now". I pay the same amount as Wingnut, yet he's getting screwed royally.

If they can't get movies locally, then ship them from where they are readily available. They need to make sacrifices where their business plan has obvious flaws.

Or at least have a disclaimer, stating in what areas the service is available, on their front page, and in addition, don't make it available in certain areas unless they're going to make it 100% available. Honestly, I feel bad for you, wingnut.

When I was living in Guam I wasn't having any problems getting anything in my queue. Not that I am in Kansas same thing. If my local center is out of whatever is #1 in my queue then after about 2 weeks they ship it from another center. The only problem I have with that is it takes more time to get it to me, and I think they should ship those as "additional" disks, above whatever your plan is.
