Its called registered mail my friends if you want to beat them at their own game. Like to see them wiggle outa saying they aint got it yet with someone saying welll it was signed for by one of your peeps so why don't you have it. I think one of the earlier posters has it right file the rebate then forget about it as I see it as a big scam anyway. I mean if you want to save the consumer money then just drop the price of the item down as much as you are offering for the rebate then everyone is happy. KOMM~VS~ :!: :!:

Or, in the case of Soyo, that will simply add to your frustration. I have proof of delivery and have emailed them several times at several different addys. Check out one of the recent responses:
    Dear valued Customer:
Thank you for your recent submission of your rebate request. We apologize that your data is not in our system, we believed that your rebate request maybe clipped with other rebate. Please re-submit

You really have to admire them. This rebate thing is just a well thought out screwing. They refuse to process multiple claims, yet this is just what they seem to be encouraging. Plus, they will want ORIGINAL docs, not photocopies, and how can you resubmit originals?

I'm only retaining any interest in the issue because I want to see which way they squirm next.

Uh, the Dog does read this forum, right?

I’m out $75 in rebates that came attached to a motherboard purchased at Newegg.com. I didn’t hear anything for the longest time, then I got one story from Soyo, and another story from the company they eventually hired to sort the mess out for them. Personally I think they were unprepared for the number of people who responded and they’re shafting us wholesale.

The messages, in order,Soyo’s replies in bold:

On August 30, 2004 I purchased an SY-P4I865PE PLUS 1.0 motherboard from
Newegg.com that came with $75 in rebates. I printed out the rebate forms,
mailed them in with the requisite UPC symbols and packing lists, and waited.
I'm still waiting. How long, exactly, does it take Soyo to fulfill a
rebate? It's been almost 14 weeks by my count. If you need my address,
please contact me.

Our database has records that you have been approved. We will process your
check as soon as possible. You should expect your check within 2-3 weeks. If
you do not receive your check in the time frame mentioned please contact us.

Best Regards,
Rebate Department
SOYO Inc.

Then there was an email from Newegg saying Soyo had set something up at VerifyRebate.com, so I went and tried to verify my rebate. I had to email them.

Hello, I would like to verify my rebates. I purchased a Soyo motherboard
from Newegg.com on 8/30/04, a SY-P4I865PE PLUS 1.0. I mailed the rebate
forms within two weeks of that date, using the following information:

I have been unable to verify my rebates through your website, but I
did get the following email reply on 12/28/04 from rebate@soyousa.com:

This is what I got back from VerifyRebate.com

Frankly, Dawg, I’m a little pi$$ed about being told I had been approved and then told that my submission was never received. $75 isn’t something I care to just throw away.

If you can help me out, great, but if not, I’d like to see a giant BLACK MARK against Soyo. It goes without saying that if I don’t get what’s rightfully mine, this will be the last Soyo product I purchase.

Thanks,
Derek Koch

Soyo is the worst company on the face of the earth, right next to Dell. They screwed a ton of people on this and they wont fix it. The billions of dollars they have and they wont fix this. They would rather blame the post office or us as the consumers. How pathetic...

Ok so they pushed me back 2 more weeks for the $60.00 one and resubmit for the other $40.00 one. These people need to just sit in our shoes for one week and they would see how pissed we are. Its not even about the money for me anymore I just want them to remember my name as the JERK that would not leave them alone!!!

JERKS I HATE THEM!!!!

That is the fifth name I see associated with the rebate department. Judy Chen was so the rebate twit at one time, yet she denies it. I don't blame her.

They also are still harping that tired old crap about resubmitting. If you believe that, I have some land in Florida I'd like to sell you...

I e-mailed the Dog about this, maybe he has a long backlog or he's still digging. The more people who squawk directly to the Dog, the more seriously he is going to take things. Look Here and scroll down a bit.

Sorry to hear that!

But on a side note MY $60.00 REBATE CAME IN!!!
You could have bought me for a nickel!
So I guess busting their balls like I did worked. Now to resubmit the $40.00 one and bust their balls in 20 weeks.

In the last 5 years, ive used alot of generic brand boards, lower end biostar and PC Chips. Not one has been replaced yet, lol. Actually, i have never had to replace any motherboard from any system I have ever built. Thats why im slightly scared at spending tons of money on good stuff, im afraid something will break and ill be without a computer for some time....lol.

I was told, at one time, that my rebate had been approved and mailed. It was total BS, so I'm not surprised Nachtjager. I'm out $75 and not at all happy with it. There was at least one forum I read after googling the problem where a guy said he ordered his mobo from TigerDirect. When things went sour with Soyo, enough people contacted TigerDirect that they paid the rebates because it was obvious that Soyo wasn't going to.

Everyone here who bought at Newegg needs to email Newegg customer service and ask them about the possibility of Newegg giving store credit in the amount of the rebates. We might get our point across. I say that because I don't have a problem with store credit, and I'll shop at Newegg anytime.

I agree. I think the vendor selling the items should do something to help there customers since they offered the rebates as well. What pisses me off is Newegg did do something to help those affected by the rebates. They sent us all discount coupons good towards a future Soyo purchase, lol. Like I want to buy another one of there products after they ripped off all there customers. I feel like repeating myself, Soyo is worse then Dell, they will never get a dime from me or any of my customers. BOO SOYO!!
