 Post subject: Verizon Business DSL tech support

A lovely day at work friday, We had intermitant fun with the DSL so I had to deal with 3 SEPERATE INDIAN techs that couldnt understand that the Westtell 327 Gateway modem/router was the SAME FREAKIN UNIT!!!! They kept saying power down the modem then power down the router then power up the modem. What does the modem do <duuuuueeeerrrrrrr> uh I dont know would you like me to bash it with a hammer to seperate the units?

tech: "uh sir you dont need to get upset"....
me: "well its been 45 minutes and you still havent answered why I have 1500down and 64kup... You know this is a business line right?"
tech "can you tell me if the modem light is blinking or solid?"
me (not taking the bait to go look in the server room) "yup its a solid green light, hey you know what according to the status screen you are still giving me the same connection speeds"
tech "lemme see if I can change your port"
me "what hey what are you oh no"
tech "what what did I do?"
me "well now I have no PPP connection thanks you made it worse now we have no connection at..... uhm hello?"

That was the 3rd tech
I got a guy that did much better engish at quater to 5 who informs me that 'hey I see since 12:37pm a router is out and some techs have been working on it..."

When I left work I was down to 200k down 36k up and pppoe refused to authenticate...

Thanks Verizon you are rockin....
Perhaps you could send your staff the specs and manuals for the equipment YOU provide. It might help just a smidge

Still down...

No active ticket in system no lovin...

Beautiful

3 techs and nobody filled out a ticket.

I wonder how long we shall stay down....

(glad I have backup solutions)

I wonder how long it will be untill companies realise how big a mistake it is to out-source to a foreign country.

I've stopped buying some companies products simply due to horrible Indian support. The labor in India may be cheap, but it's because they really just don't have a clue what they are doing.
