The reaoson I think some type of heat issue caused it is that the lines get progressivly worse as the pc is on longer (getting hotter). It started out as a verry small indent, then got worse as use with the laptop went on.

You've got to be kidding me.

That's physical damage, you can even see the point of impact just below the HP logo on the top of the screen.

The damage is consistent something large, blunt and heavy being set directly on the LCD, while open, not on the cover.

The black will get worse as time goes on, yes. But not the physical cracks unless you smash it more. The black is the chemicals inside the screens layers that make it work for lack of more technical terms.

There are no physical marks, none at all. Not on the outer bezle or the screen. When it is off, you cant tell anything is wrong with it.

theres no doubt looking at that picture that theres a crack in the protective layer of the screen and the magical substance is leeking out. You may not be able to see any physical damage but i'd bet you a lotta money that if i broke out a microscope you would see a little crack with chemicals flowing out. And using it more and more will only deplete the chemical causing the screen to look worse and worse. Gamer if you really think its heat i will gladly post a picture of a dell i have sitting here that was stabbed and looks exactally like the pic you posted. nothing against your sister but she, or someone else, definitally caused this PHYSICAL damage. I've seen loads of over heating laptops and none have ever expirenced this. people have left their laptop crunching a 5 hour render and left it in a back pack only to take it out and be so hot they couldnt take it out of the bag(powerbook).

I didn't mean the cover, I meant the LCD.

When I said look at the picture, go from the HP Logo on the top of the screen and travel down a bit to find the point of impact, I was referring to the LCD.

Yeah :? I was agreeing with you. I put the "While open, not on the cover" bit to clarify for gamer. I quoted you for emphasis becuase I felt the same about gamers statements.
