The only type of rebates I go for are the Instant Rebates.

Mail-In is bullshit

Except that one went straight to Antec. I think we're talking about the ones that go directly to CUSA here. That sucks total ass too... :/

Well, I work the Retail floor. When there's a rebate issue, the Front end manager handles that. When a customer come up to me inquiring about a product with rebates. I tell them this:

"This product is going to cost [insert dollar amount]. There are forms you can fill out to receive [insert dollar amount] as a promotional incentive if you fully fill out and meet the requirements of the incentive. This of it as a bonus from [insert manufacturer] for selecting their product."

Most problems I've seen with rebates stem from consumer errors. I'll admit, some of the rebate forms are quite confusing, and even some of the Ads and signs. Common problems with the rebates:

Customer didn't complete the rebate form.
Customer didn't send form in on time. Most rebates have a "Postmarked By..." expiration.
Customer didn't provide a copy of the sales reciept.
Customer didn't provide a qualifying proof of purchase for an upgrade of software.
Customer didn't provide a UPC barcode, or provided the incorrect code. This happens on certain items which might have a European UPC system. Majik Music does indeed have two UPC's.
Third-Party Rebate house gets overwhelmed. This causes delays, and even lost submissions.

There are a lot of reasons why rebates don't come to the customers. I've even not received a rebate for so long, I've forgotten. All of a sudden, a check comes in the mail six months later....
