So what else is new. I recently tried to purchase some music from MySh*tyNetwork and I got the response that I had installed windows too many times and to contact support....well guess what, since the enthusiast is constanly getting it in the rear there is no way to contact Big'n'Stupid without paying. I find this disgusting and am not willing to pay for a problem MS has saying I installed win to many times, and how many is too many, exactly 256 times. If I installed windows over 256 times I'll eat my disk, and knowing this is impossible I just wanna kill MS. If anyone here knows what I can do to get this resolved please let me know, thanks.

sorry to hear your troubles. you should look into apps like norton ghost. once you have installed windows and done your updates/installed drivers, make an image of it. whenever you need to re-install, just ghost your machine back to that image. it'll save you time too . there are other apps that do this too, but this is the one that i'm familiar with.

I don't quite get what your saying, you downloaded music & the windows activation came up? I've never seen that happen, are you sure it was legit?

Description of Microsoft Product Activation

Product activation facts
How do I know if my product installation is activated?

In all Office XP family products and Office 2003 System products, users can choose Activate Product from the help menu to determine the installation's activation status. In Windows, users can choose Activate Product from the Start menu under Programs, Accessories, System Tools.

I clicked all over Microsoft, can't find a phone number. 877-283-1925 this was left in a post I made, I would try that.

Aaahh, no offense, but did you happen to read the post before commenting? I never said anything about windows activation, I said I got a message saying I had installed windows too many times(256 times, common) and that I can no longer download music . I am assuming that they think I have a pirated copy and they shut off my account but like I said I most certainly did not install windows over 256 times as this would certainly be time consuming and not to mention a waste of time. I really appreciate the work Blondie as I to had a hell of a time finding a phone number for these guys, and when I did; like I said earlier they told me since I was the builder of the machine I am not eligible for any support unless I pay the 35 dollar fee and that is most definitley extortion seeing as I just bought this copy of windows last year-like I said 256 times?!?!, in a year's time? You guys add it up- 256 times minus 356, it seems I have nothing better to do, so I'd better quit my job wich I'm at between 10 and 12 hours a day. So here I am with no alternative but to bitch on some dam forum because I'm not paying 35 dollars when it only cost me 90 for windows. :(

This is what I saw, and I posted-

So no, obviously I did not get what you were saying. I also asked if it was legit, cause now your stating that you can not download music because you installed windows too many times- this I have never heard of- what does a windows installation have to do with downloading music?

I offered the phone number- I would call it, but try to be nice. someone has to give you support, at least to answer the question. I still don't see how this is possible.

I had a similar problem when I installed a program a while back ago, but what I can't understand is why you had a hard time finding the number. When it happen to me it stated I would have to give Micro$illy a call and gave the telephone number right there on the screen. You don't need any support you just need to get your Windows working again, which means re-activating it again, even though I don't like calling Micro$illy a call I did (The activation number NOT Technical Service Number). and explain my problem, with out so much as a speach they gave me an activation code and it even sounded like they apologize. I'm sure if you explain that you didn't install windows 256 times (You didn't did you?) and that you just want to have a working copy of windoze every thing will be fine.

See, this is why I questioned whether this was legit- it doesn't sound like it was. To me, it sounds like something took over- like spyware.

So let me get this straight, you have installed Windows 256 times with the same CD key (which would average out to be installed once every 1-2 weeks)? If you haven't installed it 256 times, then you CD key has been pirated, which then it's still your problem not microsofts.

Actually, I know I'm a little bit slow, but this thread really doesn't make any sense at all.

I think we have a winner...drumroll...Zambini.

Just use linux and forget about it man, or think really hard and try to solve your issue with Microsoft. That will get you no where. Sounds like a spyware issue to me..ever heard of Windows update...looked at any porno lately?

He's a young kid & excited to use Linux. I give him credit for trying it.

Kid, not everyone wants Linux, most want Windows. You can suggest Linux, but you have to understand most won't want to even try it. I do agree, it may be a good solution for the posters problem- especially since he's so pissed at Microsoft.
