I installed setpoint for my mouse, 2 days later I get a hassleware popup on a reboot to register, there is no option to tell the regtistration program to stick it.

This is nearly as annoying as Microsoft's Live "Essentials" crapware package.

It's a complaint that forced registration pop-ups are horrible.

Which is the better solution? (Note that I didn't say easier!)

1) Company stops putting crap in their software?

2) End user disables crap through an end runaround.

The stupid part is that it takes seconds to register the app, and it allows them to contact you in the event you need an urgent update, or a cool new one, a bug fix, or if you need to contact them regarding issues you're having, etc., but yet you complain that they're trying to make you do so by not allowing you to disable such a thing. Just register and it'll go away, simple as that. it's pathetic really. It's not crap of them to do that, it's kinda smart really.

Can't call it forced unless it absolutely allows no other option whatsoever. This would require them to disallow you to have any runarounds whatsoever, such as using CCleaner or disabling the registration through msconfig, etc. Nobody's forcing anything, you're just making a mountain out of a molehill. :sends virtual cheese and crackers to you:

This is the most bullshit argument yet, there is a work around for everything, don't feel like tying your windows key to your hardware, hell it only takes about 30 seconds and a reboot, you won't even have to activate windows afterwards.

Lost the key to some software you bought 10 years ago and the company is dead or giving you the runaround, snag a key generator and run it sandboxed, fuck it, you were stupid for even paying for it.

So you downloaded some trial software and want to extend the time you can use it, just fire up your registry editor.
