I don't think my account's been compromised yet, since i recently updated my password. So far, none of my friends on Facebook have not seen any changes or differences in my info/page (checked my dad's facebook profile to check my profile). But when i signed in 3 days ago, I got this message:



I have a cellphone, but my plan/phone does not allow SMS (so i think) but can send/receive text messages. I clicked on Add Your Phone, and filled out the information...



After fumbling around my cellphone to learn how to text, i sent a text message like i was asked to and clicked Next.



As I never received a confirmation code via response text to my phone in 3 days, I figured either my phone sucks or something is very fishy about Facebook.



So i tried again, using a different method:

Step 1: Instead of selecting a Mobile carrier, i selected the *My mobile service provider isn't listed link, which gave me the next window...



Clicked on View popup to add my number



Have not received a code yet today - sent a text again at 8 this morning and it is now 7pm. Having no Confirm code or any response texts from Facebook, I clicked on the Never got your confirmation code? Let us know! link, I get the following...



...which wants me to sign in, cycling back through everything i just went through. As I did not want to activate Facebook Text Messages in the first place, this seems like a waste of my time and a hassle, because I cannot get into Facebook to change my settings

I have just changed my password again, but this Mobile prompt keeps showing up. Any thoughts or ideas to circumvent this page would be very helpful. thanks for reading.

Wait, you don't have a SMS package yet you're telling Facebook to text you when there is an update?

I'm not familiar with cellphone tech, so i thought maybe if i tried it, it would be worth it, but so far, it has not been successful.

How can you have a cell phone without sms messaging nowadays? All plans account for it, even carriers don't allow you to opt out any more, it's all part of all of their packages now. Sounds a bit fishy to me.

For what it's worth, my phone is kind of outdated, and it is not one of the listed supported mobile phones on the list...it's a cheapy Samsung i got through a family 4-phone plan that my parents signed up for.

Well, after a week, i still have not received any confirmation code texts from FB, and this week i have changed my password about 20 times!

They were nice enough to try to send me a link in my email, but it still sent me to the mobile phone page.

I can't sign in to cancel my account and start over, and so far it only looks as if my account was hacked into, they only decided to spam my Gmail's inbox recently, and not spamming my friends emails or profiles.

Wish i could log back in. will try to request an account cancellation or something this morning, to maybe start over. FB support is horrible in my book.

I encountered the same problem two months ago. I have searched it through Google and as a result I found out that it is really one of the major problems of Facebook mobile. I suggest that you just discontinue signing your mobile on mobile facebook.

Yeah, also because i just don't want to use the service, yet i am still stuck here at those prompts for 3.5 weeks, now. i sent some emails to FB support, but they are not very supportive, telling me i have to wait because they put something on my account that doesn't work, and they are failing to remove this Confirm crap off my account.

Shouldn't stuff like this work BEFORE you start forcing people to use it? Seems like they just keep blaming me for not upgrading my phone.
