a week ago i recieved the tigerdirect catalog (for i am an avid fan of the company) and i saw a wintergreen systems barebone for 29.99 after the 140.00 mail in rebate. my freinds bithdays are comming up and they wanna start modding. I went online found the detailed spec, doubled checked the price, and i ordered it and yesturday found that it was on back order and they had switched it out for a 400.00 computer.....can u help me get the barebone? i'd hate to sever off the good relationship i had with tiger direct like the arm of the black night in monty python.

Send them a short note informing them that you are asking your attorney whether their 'bait and switch' is worthy of legal action, or whether you should simply cancel your order.

Ask them to hold the order until you decide what to do..

Threats of legal action are not a good tactic. Communicating with the company is. Did you discuss the situation with them? If, after a few emails or phone calls, you are unable to resolve the problem to your satisfaction, then contact an attorney. Don't threaten to, just do it if it's your last hope.

You can also contact the Better Business Bureau and lodge a complaint. It will get back to them quickly. You might make comments about it at ResellerRatings.com, which they may monitor.

There are ways to solve problems like this without resorting to threats. As a business person for the last 30 some odd years, I have been on both sides of this issue and have discovered the threat is always deemed idle. Communication is the key to success in these matters. Just be sure to communicate with the proper individual.

I don't even bother ordering from the hardcover catalogue they send me in the mail. I go online to order from them, because they NEVER have the cheapest stuff they claim to have in the catalogue.

AND they send me 2 catalogues every month. Maybe they just don't like the 'Peg? :D
