 Post subject: Anyone wonder why AVG 9.0 was not included....

......in the security suite roundup in the May 2010 issue of MPC? I can give you at least three reasons that I know of:

1. It is so bloated that it adds quite a bit of time to a system's boot time, particularly in Windows XP.

2. There is no way to shut off the antivirus portion (or turn it back on) in the same Windows session. You have to disable (or re-enable it) in the System Configuration Utility and reboot the system.

3. The built-in "E-mail Scanner" module has issues with POP3 incoming email servers in Outlook Express and causes errors when you try to download emails into Outllook Express 6. You have to disable "Scan incoming emails" within the module and save the change, rendering the incoming e-mail scanner useless.

Those would be reason to include it so that the public can be made aware of those issues.

I'm thinking it had more to do with space issues for the magazine rather than for the reasons mentioned.

Then again, MPC could have forgot about it as well :lol: .
