I recently purchased Rogue Warrior, through Steam, hoping for a decent, playable game. Right from the get-go, it was/is unplayable due to video glitches. Steam, who took my money for this game, basically says that I am SOL. Still waiting for Bethesda software to reply... So I give $40, hard earned $40 that is, to a company [Steam] expecting a good usable product, and when I try to use the product I spent my money on, it is completely useless! And this is okay? I also recently bought 3, thats right, 3 laptops from Gateway. Comes with no software discs, because they say I can use THEIR program which came preinstalled to back up. When 1 laptop crashed, and their software DIDN'T work, they also said I was SOL! I'm sorry, they actually said I could purchase working software for $19.95 plus shipping!!! I feel that I am being led to believe that its the software/computer companies who are running the bittorrent sites, because when you are selling software that doesn't work, you are actually ENCOURAGING software piracey.

Rogue Warrior:
Maybe reading some reviews from game sites first?

3 Gateway Laptops:
maybe a purchase an operating system, and install it across each laptop? that way you could just simply reformat and start over?

Dude, DL a working ISO of VistaU 32 and 64 from a torrent site, burn them to DVD(make sure they are OEM versions of the OS) and then reload your system that way. Cost free, being able to get over on the OEM for screwing you, priceless.

Must be OEM version of the OS for your OEM keys on your laptops. And I say VistaU as I'm guessing you are using Vista of some sort and no matter what version you have, the product key will tell vista what version to load on the laptops. We do it all the time at the shop I work at for lappy and desktops so long as the key is readable and on the machine being reloaded. No readable, the customer buys a new OS disk or is SOL.

Rather than download from a torrent site, which can be sketchy, I recommend taking your COA (the 'sticker of authenticity' found somewhere on each laptop) to a certified MS reseller and ask them for a disk.

They'll give you a copy that fits your license, no cost.

Don't blame Steam, its just a content distribution site/app. Reviews of the game were very bad, and also noted that it was a very buggy game. "Save your money, spend it on anything else, and forget Rogue Warrior ever existed." That's saying something (oh and piracy can't help that)

You said it crashed. Can you get into more detail?

As for restoring an OS, most diskless vendors allow you to create a restore disks from within Window to use. You can also order one, for free mostly if you have a warranty. And as some have stated here, you can use the key on the bottom of the laptops to use with a borrowed OEM disc.

That's kinda weird, though, because I bought a genuine copy of Eric's Ultimate Solitaire CD from Delta Tao. They got the friendliest staff and they know they don't stand behind BT trackers nor endorse piracy. I even read their handbook that came with the CD. Ha, trust me. :P
