I got an iPod touch gen2 for cheap. It works great and I really like the features. Then I found out Apple ignores it's existence.

Are you serious Apple? You aren't going to have further available updates? This device is just about 4 years old and already there is no support for it in your own app store? Are you for real? You are telling me that just because it has four year old technology and it has a slower processor than the new generation ipods that I can't download and install the latest official twitter app? Really? Displaying text with an avatar next to each entry pretty much costs a $200+ upgrade? Really? Dropping files into a folder and syncing stuff over wifi with the dropbox app really requires new hardware? I don't think so.

I am very disappointed with Apple. I thought they only made you pay for software updates. I guess you gotta upgrade from device to device every year too.

I feel no sympathy considering it sounds like you did little to no research on whether or not the product was supported still. And the fact this is Apple, the "forerunners of innovation" meaning "if it's two generations behind, it's trash"

I do blame myself. It was more of an impulse buy than anything else. I've decided to keep it since it is still a very capable media player and I still like it for what it can do on the web. And this new revelation is what is keeping me from returning it and buying a newer generation ipod, because in a year or so I'll be shit out of luck again.
