In another post, the poster is looking for another keyboard, he games. I found the Saitek gaming keyboard while googling. When going to Saitek's web site, I saw it got the MPC Kick Ass award, but I don't ever remember reading about it

Saitek keyboard (MPC Kick Ass) link

Does anyone know what issue this was reviewed in? Did it really get the Kick Ass award?

yeah, I think it was in the newest issue (Dec.) It was on the same page as the microsoft bluetooth combo. I was going to look into the saitek myself, not really for gaming but I like the look of illuminated keys. Anyone have one want to comment?

Jeffers, thanks for pointing that out. I haven't really read the newest issue, took it with me to a Dr appt & started reading, but haven't picked it up since.

When I found the keyboard, I thought wow- this looks promising, so I posted a link to it. The poster did some research & read that it had buggy software & that the keyboard is huge. Now, looking at the MPC review, I don't see mention of any of that, in fact the only downfall was that they wished the keypad was seperate from the keyboard.

Reading the article it looks like Will Smith reviewed this keyboard, hey Will are you out there?

Will will be around later today. I'm sure he'll be happy to offer a response.

Hi all,

I actually thought that the keyboard was a little small, but I'm used to the old Microsoft Natural Keyboard Pro.

The software worked fine for me. I made some massive build macros for RTS games that didn't have any problems at all. It did eat my changes once when I was working on a new macro, but that was a minor problem. I can't imagine that the keyboard had software problems for someone else outside of the macro software.

I would have definitely complained about the keyboard's size if the macro pad wasn't detachable, but it is.

The keyboard is lit, but not well enough that you'll be able to see which key is which in a dark room. We actually have another keyboard made by someone who I can't remember that's backlit well enough to see the keys. Unfortunately, that board used a non-standard layout.

Does that answer your questions?

2nd POST: NOW I HAVE THIS KEYBOARD!

OH MY GOD.... it is..... UBER SEXY 1337!

okay now for the professional review;

This keyboard is great, not only does it work well, it looks good. The backlight is kind of like the Neon on the bottom of a suped car, it doesnt serve any purpose except to look good. Same with this keyboard. But its not going to affect anything because you shouldnt play in the dark and if u were playing in the dark your monitor would illuminate the whole keyboard (unless you are playing Doom3 or Half Life 2 in Ravenholm) And the Separate Programmable keypad is great. The software it comes with is incredibly easy to use, just right click, select macro/keypress/keycombo and type it in and hit OK. Another thing that is good is that you can have more than one "profile" for the keyboard. So if u have two sons/brothers/people who use your computer, you can have "Chris's Profile" and "steve's Profile" and "Mary's profile" and all you have to do is click "File> Open". It is excellently designed so that the keys have a sort of soft feel to them. The ONLY Fault in this keyboard is the lack of Extra Buttons that regular keyboards have. (DO Note it is a gaming keyboard) I still keep my wireless HP Keyboard around in my desk's drawers so i can listen to music while i am on my bed or type up a school report. The Keyboard's driver does not uninstall others, so you can have more than one keyboard on your PC.
Official Ratings:
style (look) 10/10
feel (keys, arrangement) 10/10
User Friendly-ness 10/10
Ease to use software 10/10

OVERALL: 10/10
