I was a little bummed out to notice that SETI was one of the benchmarks used for the testing...

To my knowledge there is no "official" Maximum PC SETI group, but I know that there is an official Maximum PC Folding @ Home Group :(

Would it be possible to test CPU performance using F@H in the future instead of SETI?

As long as there's no valid reason not to, I wholeheartedly agree. Good catch BTW, I didn't even notice until you brought it up.

IIRC, the problem with Folding is that there's no easy way to force it to always use the same unit. With Seti, we always use one work unit, and always use the same version of the client from like 2 years ago.

It's Gordon's benchmark, so he can probably fill you in on more details than I can.

Ok - That makes sense to me...

hehe - I think, however; that there is a thread in the Folding forum that describes how to use the same one on multiple machines for testing - I'll see if I can dig it up - and if Gordon is interested - I'll try to add it to the thread :)

Hey Will - Thanks for the reply though - I really appreciate how responsive you were! (Just another of the many reasons I read MaxPC) :)
