One thing I didn't see in the Feb 2014 "Supercharge Your PC" article or in the forums is whether Windows can be removed from the original harddrive after cloning to the ssd. Since Windows now resides on the ssd, wouldn't it seem logical to free up space on the old spinning drive? Can it be done(without losing data) or should it be done? Will removing Windows bork the file system on the old drive?

Just reformat like it like you would any time you want to nuke the hard drive.

I don't want to "nuke the drive". I just want to remove Windows only. I want to save existing data already on the drive.

Then pull out the Users folder. That's the only thing that really needs saving.
