One of the latest MaxPC's (MaxPC April 2004 page 68)said DriveImage 7 and Ghost had problems with serial drives and bad images. They couldn't get either program to work properly with serial drives.

I use DriveImage7. I made an Image of my system, stored it on a WD 80 gig drive on the promise IDE controller, and am able to restore it to my raid array of 2 x WD 36gig raptor serial drives in raid 0 on the ICH5 raid controller on a P4C800-E board. I load the controller drivers for both the promise and the ICH5 at F6.

Wonder why it works for me and not the MPC lab.

Evidently they use a singe SATA drive with a partition to store the image and it works for them til they boot after restoring the image. Then it endlessly reboots.
I use multiple drives with no partitions. Could be a factor?

Maybe the raid is a factor. Curious.

FYI DriveImage6 works just fine with SATA according to MaxPC

maybe your RAID software/driver upgrade fixed some issues?

I've used Gost 2002 on my Silicon Image hosted SATA RAID succesfully as well, and it's non native.

It may depend on whether you use your own MS-DOS boot image or the IBM PC-DOS one that Symantec provides...

I've just never given issue about it, because it is still seemingly hit or miss.
