In the XFX Radeon HD 6990 review in the September issue, your + image is James T. Kirk, Extremely fast in most current games...., while your - image is Jean-Luc Picard, Extremely loud under full load....
Having watched faithfully both versions of Star Trek (and the others as well except the Scott Bakula version), I would suggest that the opposite would be more accurate: Jean-Luc Picard, Extremely fast... in his analysis and action; James T. Kirk, Extremely loud under full load. Bring to mind your memories of the two captains, and see if you do not agree.
Perhaps my vision is coloured by the subsequent career of William Shatner.

Other than the Kahn incident, Kirk was only loud enough to be heard over all the explosions.
