In the June 2010 issue of MaximumPC, there is a section under "Windows 7 Tips" on how to load Windows 7 onto a bootable USB key. What I would like to know is this: Does this "how to" article apply to the retail upgrade version of Windows 7 Ultimate 64-bit as well?

Yes.

Or at least, it worked for me using the 64-bit Pro upgrade.

I don't remember if it was mentioned, but be sure you have the 64 bit version of BOOTSECT otherwise it won't work.

Well, 64-bit of BOOTSECT for 64-bit Windows, 32-bit version for 32-bit Windows.
