I am working on a pc here that is VERY infected.
I don't know how this guy got this many bugs but he did.
It wont run in normal mode unless you want to proliferate the virus'

so I boot into safe mode, gonna try this new M$ program that got a 8 rating from our favorite magazine.
but alas
NO
DENIED

wont run in safe mode
what good does a a/v program that wont run when you are fixing stuff, do for anybody?
I mean honestly, if every body installed before they got infected sure great but wouldnt that kind of be pointless to the a/v guys? If we were all smart, they wouldnt have a job!

whathuhitwasntme, most antivirus software is for proactive use, not reactive use.

It sounds like the malware is preventing the program from running (or the service doesn't work in Safe Mode).

Personally, when I remove malware I don't even run antivirus software. Your best bet is to get a general malware scanner (Malwarebytes Anti-Malware, SUPERAntiSpyware, A-Squared Anti-Malware, etc). An antivirus can only do so much.

yeah
thats where I started

so far I have hit it with:

superantispyware (netted over 180)
spybot search an destroy (another 40 or so)

figured I would run a virus scan to see what it got but the malware as stated stopped it from running.
SO, I booted to "safe" mode which isn't anymore. Only to find out that the program that our favorite mag gave a 8 to, the highest rating they handed out in the virus showdown, well it dont run in safe mode? Whiskey Tango Foxtrot!

what good is a program for removing virus an malware that does not run in safe mode?
