Maximum PC

A couple or a few podcasts ago Andy Bowman (sp?) made a comment in regards to using a DSLR in lieu of a "handycam" video camera. He also said storage options were better along with the sensor being larger. (im looking to purchase a new "handycam" and definitely want DSLR)

Does anyone remember which DSLR he was talking about?

The Canon 5D Mark II has been used to shoot commercials and portions of shows.

The Canon 7D also shoots 1080p video, but it's hard to recommend the 7D at $1000 more than the T2i.

I just got a Canon Rebel T2i (550D in Europe) and while the quality is good for the $900 I paid, it can't replace a prosumer HD cam.

The T2i does 1080p at 24/25/30 fps and 720p at 50/60.

It's still good enough to act as both a DSLR and a consumer HD camera though.

*EDIT* Make sure there's ample light or your video will be recorded at a high ISO.

That canon 5d mark II looks amazing!
Im wondering how it performs in low light situations since i will be doing a lot of filming in a darkened theater.

oh wait, i just realized that my comment above could be taken the wrong way. no i won't be using it for making TS or TC copies of movies in theater but rather my wife's community theater lol.
