I wish a site would hurry up and do a Doom³ hardware comparison with the current retail cards. I've seen the one that was done at hardocp but that was 6 months ago and the hardware drivers weren't the greatest at that point. I really need a new video card bad and this issue is burning a hole in my pocket.

More of a statement on my part I guess, but damnit.....Hurry up!

Patience man....soon we shall see pleathora of reviews on several test systems. I am confident we will see the game August 3rd. PC Gamer or something already had a hands on review with the game. Pretty sure game is final and done. Just the wait...

I just hope my 9500 Pro can play it decently playable framerate.

I can live w/o the game ...but the hardware comparison using the game as a test is what I'm after. I need a new video card bad, all I have now is a GF mx200 32mg. I don't want to buy 1 until i see how the 6800 and X800 stack up side by side in a Doom3 torture test. I'm curious to see if the PS 3.0 really makes any difference.

not sure if the rumor was right but a time ago either D3 or HL2 could run on a 9700 Pro. I bet you can. Just maybe not at the highest settings you would want. I'm hoping I can atleast play on default settings.

I believe the recommended is way above that.

P4 2.5 (or equiv)
radeon 9800 (or equiv)
512mb ram

etc.

Maybe it's time to update that proc? :]

I've read that to run with graphics in full mode you'd need AMD XP 64 3200 and 2GB ram

Since Carmack favors nVidia cards for Doom3, I think it's pretty obvious.

Sure it does, just look at the latest FarCry benchmarks...
