Hey All

My dad's computer is already a dual monitor setup. He has an Abit SA7 mobo and a ATI Radeon VE, which is a dual monitor video card. What he wants to do is install a third monitor. Previously i tried to hook up a third monitor with a PCI Nvidia GeForce 4, however, because of driver conflict it didnt work. People suggested installing one dirver first and then the other, etc, but still didnt work.

I have seen a few decent and inexpensive PCI ATI cards, a Rage and a Mach64. However, on ATI's site, the drivers for these cards are listed under different categories, the Radeon is |Graphic Driver--> Radeon| while the Rage is |Graphic --> Rage/Pro/128...| The mach however is listed under legacy products.

My question is, would i be able to buy one of these cards to pair up with my Radeon VE for three monitors? Or will there be some sort of driver conflict? Would i let one driver control them both or should i download two drivers? I dont want to buy a Radeon PCI because its pretty expensive. By the way, im using Win 2k.

Sorry about the lenghty message and thanks for reading

Victor

:Edit:

By the way, what do people normally do when they have a triple monitor or more setup? Aside from buying those expensive thriple head cards, do they just buy additional and identical PCI cards or is there some sort of software?

why not get a PCI Radeon card? i know they make the 7500 (64meg DDR...good card..i had the AGP version)

that will probably solve your driver conflict then

or you could get a triple moniter video card

I've run GF2MX (single head) and GF4FX400 (dual head) with a TNT2 PCI card without any problems, in linux and windows.

The only issue I had was BIOS related ... I had to force the motherboard to search for the PCI card after it had found the AGP ... the default for most motherboards is continue booting once any video card is found.

My last Ati card was a Rage+, though, so I can't help you with your problem specifically ... though I've heard that ATi cards play well together.
