I have an Intel D875PBZ motherboard that was originally in a Gateway 6100. The board is the same as the retail production 875PBZ, however Gateway put their system info in BIOS. The Gateway computer model and name shows up in my System Information, both in BIOS and Windows XP dxdiag program.

How can I clear/reset this? My board works great, with the exception of the red LED continously being lit, ever since I broke past the futile Gateway limitation on BIOS updates only through Gateway, when I was able to post Intel BIOS releases.

Ideas??

if you know the exact model of that mobo, i'd think a BIOS update with an Intel one should work.

DO NOT do this yet though, wait for more inputs on this.

Im already running the latest Intel BIOS. This started when I took the mobo out of a salvaged Gateway and put it in my case. Mobo worked just fine out of the box, but had Gateway crap such as startup splash screen and then it wouldn't update to Intel's BIOS. A quick hack got past this, then I was able to install all Intel BIOS from that point on. But the red LED still stays on, and the Gateway info is still showing in the System Info part. I just want to flush all this out, if possible. I'm willing to live with the red LED, though.

Is the BIOS socketed? If so, you can get a new BIOS for it and flash it.

Looks like it is! I can't find the BIOS chip itself on their site, so you may want to contact support and see what they sell them for:
