1) What version of the catalyst drivers seem to perform best with ATI Radeon 9800 Pro? or should I just get the 4.7 set from ATI's site?

2) Is there anything special I need to do before installing the ATI card? Obviously I have to remove the nvidia drivers but are there any other steps I should take before installing the card?

p.s. I score 7197 on 3dmark01 and 1159 on 3dmark03 with my GF3 Ti200. I'll post back after I get the card installed with my new results.

Don't just do a simple uninstall of the drivers. Do a total sweep using DriverCleaner3. It's easy to use, so just read the directions.

In short, I put the shortcut on my desktop, then reboot into safemode and run it. Once it's done, you go back into normal mode and everything is gone. And I mean EVERYTHING. If you have some nVidia drivers stored there somewhere, they'll go away too.

I just figured I'd let you guys know of my progress. I got the card installed with no problems and ran the benchmarks...

My scores jumped from 7197 on 3dmark01 to 12451 and they jumped from 1159 on 3dmark03 up to 5206.

Needless to say I'm very happy with the results.

what CPU and memory do you have? i'm thinking that the Radeon 9800 PRO should do better than 12451.

I would think at least 15k?

But as long as it does well in games, thats all that matter IMO :)
