Hey all..
getting ready to upgrade my videocard. I currently have

AMD 3000+ 333fsb
512 megs 2700
15" flat panel... highest res is 1024 x 768
open agp 8x slot

I have the choices narrowed to the geforce 5900xt or an ati 9700pro
I think i am set on the 5900 becuase i have a geforce 4 igp in my system and from what I read, the ati card might cause compatability problems with that. So I am just looking for advice on this before I drop 200 dollars on a new card.
Thanks =)

why a 9700 Pro?

the 9800XT is comparable to the 5900 Ultra.

I suggest the 9800Pro or XT.

I would not give much worry to compatibilty problems. Your best bet for the money is the 9800 Pro. You can have a retail MSI 9800 Pro for $194 shipped:

Not sure what the bundle is, but it says at the bottom that it comes with "10 games."

There are no compatability problems with the nForce chipset and ATI's videocards. That would be suicide for either company.

in goat we trust. Go with the goat's suggestion on the 9800PRO card.

I own a nforce2 based system w/ATI 9500PRO w/o any whatsever problems.

running nForce1 with ATI 9500 PRO, no problems.

yes, as others have said, for your budget, go with a 9800 PRO, unless the games you plan run better with nVidia cards, then get the 5900.
